A Nation Salutes its Martyrs

Let those who come after, see to it that these names be not forgotten. For they who at the call of duty, left all that was dear to them. Endured hardships, faced dangers and finally passed out of sight of men. In the path of duty and self-sacrifice. Giving their lives that we might live in freedom – Madras Regiment’s tribute

On this Martyrs’ Day, marking the unfortunate day in 1948 when the Mahatma was shot dead, let us remember the supreme sacrifices made by the numerous patriotic Indians, pre- and post-independence.

It is after all thanks to their ultimate sacrifice that we are able to lead the life we are.

Amar Jawans, I salute you.
