A question of dominant discourse…

It is easy for us to rant about the Indian Government banning Yahoo Groups.

But we do need to bear that the eGroup in question belongs to (or professes to belong to) the secessionist group Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council, which is one of the 14 organisations banned in India. The HNLC seeks the independence of the Khasi or Hynniewtrep nation of the Indian Union’s North-Eastern state (or province) “Meghalaya”.

This outfit is banned for being a terrorist organisation.

The bottom line still is: The intentions are noble… The problem is only with the means…

Btw, most of the “top stories” sections of popular newspapers online do not seem to be mentioning anything about Edward Said’s death…

Edward Said would have been proud. The media has proved him in his death…

Dominant Discourse Rules!
