Yesterday, I performed a 15-min magic show at the Indian Air Force Training High Command, Bangalore.
This was my third individual performance here… but the excitement of entertaining some of the most wonderful people one can come across and know, remains unmatched.
The Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Air Marshal B K Pandey AVSM VM–who by now is (by any standards) a veteran at getting entertained by my magic–greeted me with five words, that mean more than any money or recognition can ever give.
Greeting me on the stage, after the one and half hour variety entertainment programme that was put together by the Airmen and the AFWWA (Air Force Wive’s Welfare Association) on the occasion of Navarathi (Durga Pooja), the Air Marshall said “Nice to see you again”. The genuine warmth with which he greeted me is something I can (and will) NEVER forget.
Later on, in a one to one discussion, he added: “Every time I see you I want to know how you do it,” referring to the little magic tricks I conjured up for them on different occasions.
Thanks to Wing Commander Mittal who has been very supportive and encouraging. It is thanks to his initiative that I have had the wonderful opportunity to entertain some of the finest and courageous of gentlemen and ladies one can ever come across.
Thank you, sirs.
All I can do now is look forward to the next august occasion when I can conjure up some more mysteries for you @ the IAF 😉
